About SWAYAM
SWAYAM is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.
Courses delivered through SWAYAM are available free of cost to the learners, however learners wanting a SWAYAM certificate should register for the final proctored exams that come at a fee and attend in-person at designated centres on specified dates. Eligibility for the certificate will be announced on the course page and learners will get certificates only if this criteria is matched. Universities/colleges approving credit transfer for these courses can use the marks/certificate obtained in these courses for the same.
About NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) NPTEL is a common project of the IITs and IISc, which is funded by the Ministry of Education (MoE) Government of India. It was launched in 2003. NPTEL was started as a project to get quality education to all parts of the country. NPTEL offers more than 600 certification courses every semester in about 22 disciplines.
NPTEL MOOCs NPTEL started on offering open online courses in March 2014. Anyone outside the IIT is able to do an online certification course from NPTEL and get a certificate from the IITs. Through this initiative IITs are reaching out and taking education to the homes of people.
NPTEL Online Certification The objective of NPTEL online certification course is to make students acquire a appropriate higher education and be employable. Engineering, humanities and science streams courses of 4, 8, or 12-week basic are being offered by NPTEL. Enrolment and learning of these courses is free. NPTEL conduct an in-person, proctored certification exam and a certificate is provided to the students who successfully complete the course. These courses are available at: http://nptel.ac.in. or https://swayam.gov.in/NPTEL MGM CCSIT NPTEL LocalChapter NPTEL is setting up SWAYAM-NPTEL chapter in colleges to encourage more students across colleges to participate in this initiative.
The NPTEL Local Chapter will be under the headship of a faculty member of the college, who would be the Single Point of Contact (SPOC). NPTEL will keep the SPOC updated about all the latest NPTEL initiatives. SPOC will circulate this information among the students. SPOC can set mentors for various courses, who can ensure that students are active in a course, submitting their assignments on time and also clarify the doubts students. Establishment of NPTEL Local Chapter is the collaboration of college with IIT & IIM for various MOOC courses offered by these leading educational organizations. Institue has established a NPTEL Local Chapter on 02 November 2021 to enroll for various NPTEL courses for students and faculty. The NPTEL Local Chapter has a unique ID across the country.
